I wanted to put a little twist to Mika's art activities instead of using the typical marker, crayon and water color painting, why not try dot painting! I've seen a lot of mommies sharing dot painting activities in their blog and it always seem like a fun less messy art activity for the children.
This is a dot painting set (in case you didn't already know).

I'm hoping for Mika to do something like this...
...but highly unlikely for now :p
Also the professionaly done dot painting is using stick unlike the do a dot art which is more for children's art :)
So I decided to do my own dot painting set. Here's what I did:
1. Bought cheap liquid glue (squeeze-bottle-type) from Popular Bookstore (RM2.40 for 4 bottles)
2. Empty the glue bottle (keep the glue in a separate container for future use) and wash bottle thoroughly with water.
3. Fill in the bottle with water color preferably tempera paint because it's cheap, safe for all ages and washes easily.
4. Put the glue cap back on and it's ready to be used!
Mika and his cousins Jay and Titi did not waste time any time experimenting with the dot painting :)
I love seeing their happy faces when trying something new :)
Oh dear Mika's salivating from all the excitement!
Mess level is kept at minimal so that's a plus point. It's cheap to do too, cost me only RM20 for the paint and glue.
This is another way of doing your own Dot painter http://www.teachpreschool.org/2011/07/diy-make-your-own-dot-dabbers-for-preschool/
Till then happy DIY'ing :D
